Marissa and Nick are married!! Wow, what a fantastic day at The Guild KC in the heart of downtown Kansas City!
Marissa reached out to me on Facebook after Nick popped the question. We were sorority sisters in college (Alpha Chi Omega at KU!) and I was flattered and honored she wanted me to photograph her big day! Whenever someone I already know and love trusts me with this job, it means SO stinking much!!
Marissa is clearly stunning and her hair and make-up artist from Bronzed & Blushed killed it by highlighting her natural beauty. She slipped into her Maggie Sottero dress from The Gown Gallery and it fit her like a glove. Nick didn’t look too shabby either in his tux from Slabotsky’s. They topped off their looks with florals from Hitched Planning + Floral (Lindsee was so incredible to work with!) and they were ready to walk down the aisle!
Their ceremony was beautiful and filled with such joy! My favorite part was when the officiant ask Marissa if she takes Nick as her husband. Grinning from ear to ear, Marissa said “yes!” and threw her hands in the air. Make sure you check the images below and you’ll see this exact moment as it happened…such a special moment!
Marissa & Nick’s bridal party was just a HOOT! Filled with high school and college friends, they brought so much happy, positive energy to the day. Not to mention that it was one of the groomsmen, John’s, 30th birthday! Marissa and Nick got a special cake just for him – I love that they showed they really care about their people, even on their own wedding day.
After the ceremony was an awesome cocktail hour. The crowd greeted one another joyfully and laughter could be heard all around. At dinner, I was very impressed with the speeches – so much love for the couple. Marissa’s dad’s speech was the most memorable to me! He started by having his wife tell everyone that she was named after her grandmother. Then he took a walk down memory lane and told us stories from her years in elementary school up through college. Before he started telling us these stories, he told Nick that when each story was over, he would say “happy life” and then he wanted Nick and his groomsmen to say “happy wife”. I loved this because he explained that his guys would walk through life with both of them… Through sad seasons and happy seasons alike!
When it was time to party, the dance floor was PACKED all night! The DJ, Fernando Productions, played all the hits and it seemed like no one left the dance floor. Just like their day, it was energetic and filled with laughter!
Congrats to Marissa and Nick! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!
