The Abbey Resort Lake Geneva Wedding

Marissa and Blake got married at The Abbey Resort in Lake Geneva, WI, and it was one of those days that just felt so good from start to finish! Truly the best mix of timeless and fun, which is always my favorite. It’s also one of my favorite venues to photograph, and this day reminded me exactly why. Everything flowed so naturally, and getting to stay on property all day made it feel so relaxed and easy in the best way. Between the lakeside views, the greenery, and all the different spots around the resort, it all just flows so naturally together!

We started the morning with details, and honestly I could have stayed there all day because I was having too much fun with it! Marissa leaned into such a timeless look with her dress (and yes… pockets!!), paired with soft white florals and simple greenery that kept everything feeling really clean and elevated. She also included family heirloom rings, which made it feel even more special. And Blake’s boat propeller cufflinks were the perfect little nod to the lake which means so much to them!

Their overall design tied everything together so effortlessly. The bridesmaids in sleek black dresses, the groomsmen in black suits, and Blake in a classic tux with a bow tie. A black and white wedding like this will never not be a favorite – it’s timeless, elevated, and photographs beautifully everywhere!

Their wedding party brought the best energy too! The perfect mix of hype and go-with-the-flow, which makes such a difference in how the day feels. Blake kept his signature move going, his jump where he clicks his heels together (which he also did at their engagement session!). Somehow it got even better on the wedding day and I will never get over it!

When we moved into portraits, everything just slowed down in the best way. This is one of my favorite things about The Abbey Resort, you get so much variety without ever leaving. The lake, the open green space, the little tucked away spots… it all gives you such a good mix. Marissa’s veil moments, the way they just naturally settled into each other, the soft light…it all came together so easily!

And then the reception… SO fun!! The dance floor was packed all night, and from the second it started, people were all in. The energy stayed high the entire time, and it just felt like one big celebration the whole night. One of the sweetest moments was when Marissa dedicated her bouquet to her mom. You could feel how much that meant, especially knowing how much her mom poured into making the day what it was. Such a simple but really meaningful moment in the middle of all the fun!

This is the exact reason why I love photographing weddings at The Abbey Resort. It gives couples the space to have a really beautiful, elevated day while still actually enjoying it. Everything is right there, the setting is always stunning, and it allows the day to unfold naturally instead of feeling rushed. Marissa and Blake’s day was the perfect mix of timeless and fun, and I loved getting to be a part of it all!
