Cecily and Joe’s wedding day at the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union Terrace was an absolute dream! They were one of my very first couples I connected with when I first moved to Milwaukee. I learned through them that to get your wedding booked at the Union Terrace, you have to book way in advance and be an alumni of the school! Cecily and Joe were so excited to be able to find a wedding date that worked for them to get married at such a special, beautiful place!
These two are both so authentic and so relaxed! I officially met them at their engagement session and, right away, I knew they were going to be fun to work with; always up for anything and very go with the flow. It makes my job SO EASY to work with people who genuinely get along so well with one another as well as with others. It transforms being a photographer from being work to being a friend with a camera!
A fun fact about this wedding day: Cecily’s maiden name is Rolling and Joe’s last name is Cassel. Cecily is a HUGE Disney fan, so it’s only fitting that their hashtag was ‘Rolling to the Cassel.’ I mean, does it get better than that? They had unique Disney details added throughout their wedding day, too – Mickey Mouse buttons on her bouquet and his boutonnière by Blooms by Brandi, a fun cake topper, and their guest book was little wooden pieces that guests would sign and drop into a castle frame. It’s all in the fairytale details and I love it when unique interests of the couple are showcased at their wedding. It’s a fun a way to remember such a special day!
One of my favorite parts of the day was Cecily’s dad’s speech. Wow, it brought the whole group of guests to be misty eyed (including me!) “Today I gave away Cecily and even though, as her dad, I was the first guy she loved, I’m so grateful to give her away to her next love, Joe. I couldn’t have picked a better guy to love her and become her husband.” Those words are so meaningful and I’m sure are echoed by other dads as they watch their babies wed!
Cecily and Joe have officially been married for a year today. They started married life with the purchase of a new home and a sweet new pup, Pippa! It’s been so fun to follow their story and be a small piece in ensuring these memories are forever documented.
Happy anniversary you two! I’m so grateful to have capturing your wedding day and call you friends! You both are so welcoming and exude such joy!
