28 Event Space Wedding

Wedding

Katie and Alex tied the knot at The Station at 28 Event Space on a hot summer day in Kansas City! Their wedding venue of choice is located just minutes from downtown KC. The 7500 square foot warehouse has been completely remodeled, and it features several different event spaces for both wedding ceremonies and receptions. If you’re looking for a unique, rustic (yet modern!) wedding venue with tons of amenities, I highly recommend The Station at 28 Event Space!

Now, back to Katie and Alex’s big day! The couple met online and hit it off right away. Alex proposed to Katie out on the lake with her entire family patiently waiting from a boat nearby. After the big moment, Katie’s family were able to join them to celebrate out on the water!

Katie and Alex are both very calm and patient people, so their wedding day was super relaxed. I actually got to photograph Alex’s sister’s wedding last year, so I was already familiar with some of their friends and family! Getting to walk into wedding days already knowing some of the family and guests is one of my favorite things!

Katie, a special needs teacher, wanted to make sure her brother, who has special needs, got to have his own big moment on her wedding day. Along with a traditional first look, Katie chose to have a first look with her brother as well. It was one of the sweetest moments I’ve seen in a while, and I could tell it meant a lot to both of them! You can feel the tender moment just by looking at the photos!

During the couple’s first look, they took the time to read their personal vows to each other before the ceremony. So, they got to have their own private moment away from their guests. Taking that quiet moment together is so important on your wedding day. The day can be so hectic and fly by, so taking a moment just to be with each other is essential!

Another guest of honor at the couple’s wedding was their dog, Quincy! Quincy, a beefy and loveable bulldog, really stole the show! They even got him a flower collar to wear for pictures. He was so photogenic!

During cocktail hour, Katie and Alex had a private dinner which I think is such a great idea! This is another special time to spend with your person on your wedding day. It also lets the couple walk around during their guests dinner to say hi and really get a chance to speak to everyone!

After dinner and speeches, it was time to dance! Right before the dance floor opened, I was told there was a rainbow outside, so we rushed out to take photos and it turns out, there were two! It was one of those magic wedding day moments, and I’m so glad we got to capture it! Once the dance floor was open for guests, it was packed the entire night! And Katie and Alex danced the night away as newlyweds with their friends and family.

Katie and Alex- thank you so much for letting me be a part of your big day! I loved working with both of you, and I wish you all the happiness in the world. -TK
